Javier Mascherano extends contract with FC Barcelona (Video)
On Monday evening FC Barcelona announced Javier Mascherano has officially signed a new contract with the club until 2016 and raised his buyout clause to 100 million euros ($122.8 million). The Argentine defender joined Barca from Liverpool for a reported 22 million euros ($27 million) in 2010.
Mascherano said in a statement on the club’s website,
“I am very happy that a club as big as this has offered to extend my contract and I can feel relaxed that as long as I do things well, I can stay here for many more years,” ”Extending my stay at Barca depends on me and how I perform as a footballer.”.
