Baltimore Orioles rookie 3B Manny Machado hit two home runs in his second career game, making him the youngest player in O’s history to hit two homers in a game. After going 2 for 4 in his debut on Thursday, Machado hit a solo shot in the fifth inning and a three-run drive in the sixth. Both homers came off Royals P Luke Hochevar and landed in the left-field seats. As a matter of fact, both historic blasts were caught by 15-year-old Adam Corder, he traded the first ball for several signed baseballs and a bat, and opted to keep the second ball.
At 20 years and 35 days old, Machado is the youngest Orioles player to post a multihomer game, taking over the previous record set by Boog Powell, who was 20 years and 258 days old when he hit a pair of homers on May 2, 1962. This is just one day after he went 2 for 4 with a triple in his major league debut Thursday.
