Team USA demolishes Nigeria in a historic blowout 156-73

From start to finish it was never even close as the USA dominated Nigeria to a 156-73 win breaking many national and olympic records.

As the US took a 14-0 lead early in the first quarter the game looked like it was getting out of hand early. That would be an understatement. The USA would finish the half up 78-45. Throughout the rest of the game the USA broke their own 3 pointers made in a game record by making 29/46.

The USA also set the record for most points in a game beating the previous record of Brazil who scored 138 points in a game. Another record broken was largest margin of victory after winning by 83 points. Lastly, Carmelo Anthony scored the most points by a player on the USA team in a single game by scoring 37 points today beating Stephon Marbury’s previous record of 31 in 2004.

The USA’s next game will be Saturday morning vs. Lithuania. Don’t expect another blowout like today’s, expect a solid win.
